Most computers, especially those from the well known manufacturers like Dell, HP Compaq, Gateway, etc. fit this category. In light of this fact we are aware that upgrading a single component may not make much sense; for example, replacing a processor with a faster unit will not help if the motherboard can't communicate with the new processor any faster than the old one.

In some instances we may recommend upgrading to a larger or second hard drive if more space is required or adding memory to allow the computer to access data more quickly. These system upgrades need to be matched against the cost of a new computer and the time and cost required to install software and migrate user files from the old computer to the new one.
